In other words, as long as the prefecture has not issued its decision, your coverage must not be interrupted. The text requires the prefect to make the document available to you through the ANEF online service. In practice, monitor your personal account as each deadline approaches: that is where the new attestation appears.

Right to work: what the attestation actually allows

This is the question that worries people most, often because the employer raises it. Article R431-15-2 of the CESEDA states that the attestation "authorizes its holder to carry out a professional activity within metropolitan French territory in accordance with the applicable regulations." The nuance matters: this right is not automatic for everyone. It depends on your situation and on the rights attached to the permit you held or are applying for.

• If your previous permit authorized you to work, the attestation in principle extends that right during its validity.
